Family vacation and silly masks go together like meat and potatoes.

I remember this photo was taken around 1984, when our entire family gathered on Fripp Island in South Carolina for an annual beach vacation.

The Reagan vs. Mondale election was coming up, and my uncle and grandfather had polar political views. To lighten things up, someone got these animal nose masks.

My grandfather was wearing an elephant trunk, my uncle wore a donkey snout. My cousin Jack and I were clueless as the bird and the pig.
