A Portrait of Youth
“Stories have to be told or they die, and when they die, we can’t remember who we are or why we’re here.” –Sue Monk Kidd
This is Donald Thorvald Kitchin and Zane Lorretta Nordhal, my parents. This photo of them was taken in 1953.
They were newlyweds.
At the time this photo was taken, my parents were at the stage of life where days were a bit longer and nights were a bit shorter, but the will and desire to jump in and make a splash was their journey.
And so they did.
Though their marriage didn’t continue, I can still see the look of anticipation that is ever present in their youthful eyes and faces. ~shared by @seankitchin
