What Will Pictures Say To Future Generations?
“And if these pictures have anything important to say to future generations, it’s this: I was here. I existed. I was young, I was happy, and someone cared enough about me in this world to take my picture.” -Robin Williams
My grandmother, Sarah Lincoln LaCour, napping in the back of the boat on one of my grandfather’s many fishing trips in the 1960s.
My grandmother remembers these fishing trips fondly. She says, “I would always go along and we had a deal: he caught and cleaned the fish; I helped cook them.” I treasure this photo of her. She has always been a classically elegant woman, willing to climb into a boat but always perfectly put together and timelessly beautiful.
We just celebrated her 90th birthday at the lake in Mississippi where many of our family fishing trips took place. Having her in my life as my matriarch is a gift. ~shared by @rachellacour
