Discovering my Parents’ Wedding Album was like finding buried treasure
My parents, Oct 13, 1951. Washington, DC. (Happily married for 62 years.) I discovered my parents’ wedding album as a young photography student. I was struck by the exquisite craftsmanship of these photos.
Wedding photographers in 1951 worked with 4×5 Speed Graphic cameras which only took one sheet of film at a time. They had to make each shot count since they maybe shot 40 photos for the whole day.
Since finding these photos I have gone on to shoot over 200 weddings, including loads of celebs and fascinating couples.
I still think of the photographers from the 1940s and 1950s as the high water mark in the industry.
