How A Great Snapshot Keeps a Moment From Running Away
“A good snapshot keeps a moment from running away.” -Eudora Welty
My father recently shared with me a photo that he’s saved for many years.
It’s of the two of us, probably around 1964 or 1965. My father is in the boat, ready to take me for a spin in the water behind our house in St. Petersburg, Florida.
My father was an educator and our boat was appropriately named “Teachers Pet.” Although I guess it should have had an apostrophe to be grammatically correct!
I’m standing with my favorite water ski, which was quite a bit taller taller than I was! I learned to water ski at age 6 and although I haven’t skied in many, many years, this photo evokes a joyous feeling of my youth. ~shared by @emencher
