My Glamorous, Gracious Grandmother, Revealed in this Vintage Photo taken by my Grandfather
My favorite portrait of my grandmother taken sometime in the 1960s by my granddad.
Jane Turner, 1919-2015.
She was a schoolteacher and a dance instructor. She was known to walk on her hands around the house.
She celebrated her 90th birthday by choreographing and performing a tap dance routine in her assisted living center’s talent show. (She won 1st place and a month’s free rent.) She was always a gracious host and maintained that quality even while suffering from advanced Alzheimers, asking us if we would like something to eat or her help planning an activity.
She looks glamorous in every photo and was my granddad’s favorite subject. We have dozens of photos of her in front of various tourist attractions, always perfectly posed, usually giving what we teased her as the Queen Elizabeth wave.
Also, she loved technology. Whenever I’d come to visit, she liked to show off her latest gadget, from a bread machine to a rotisserie cooker.
While in her late 80s, she bought herself a computer and taught herself how to use email and the internet! ~shared by @debgarr9903
