My Grandpa Took Selfies Before Selfies Were Cool
Here’s to the picture takers, the family historians, the memory keepers, the watchful storytellers who document our days. They remind us that ordinary life is actually quite extraordinary.
My grandpa took selfies before selfies were cool.
This is him in the early 80’s experimenting with his Minolta and long exposure self portraits.
The tripod and camera are long gone. His Minolta died during a 1999 trip to Norway, but the memories he captured are still alive in the hundreds of albums of his photos my grandma has meticulously curated over the years.
Thanks to his passion and gift for photography, our family has over six decades of incredible family pictures!
He turned 85 recently and still take pictures every day.
His name is Kenton Rucker – born, raised, and still lives in St. Paul, Minnesota. I love that his passion & gift for photos was passed on to my brother. ~shared by @_mynameiseva
