Historic Snapshot of a Woman Who Influenced my Life and my Legacy
My grandmother Jane was a nurse during WWII, she spoke Japanese, and raised my mother as a single parent. On my best days, it is my hope that I might be regarded as half the woman she was.
For the sake of brevity, to tell you how this photo truly moves me, you must know this – my family is broken and scattered. I did not have the privilege of having a relationship with my Grandmother. There is so much about her that I don’t know.
When I look as this photo, I feel love. Despite not knowing where or when this photo was taken, or by whom, I can feel the fondness Grandma Jane had for the person she was looking at, who was holding the camera.
As I grow older, I long for family. I seek to fill this void by nourishing the relationships I have that equal family to me. We are all social beings; our relationships and the time with which we enjoy them are all we have in this life. I hope we will all choose to live lives full of meaning, as our purpose is to be here with one another and cherish our shared experiences…like family. ~shared by @gold.tweed
