How many memories can be stored in a single photograph?
“I believe in the resonance and staying power of quiet photographs.” –William Albert Allard
My Aunt Beth and her friend in rural Mississippi in the 1960s. These Kodachrome colors and memories never faded for me and my family.
But this photo is about more than Kodachrome and kids on summer vacation.
It evokes endless summer stories, made up of family fishing trips, creaky row boats, impromptu potlucks, bourbon sipping, fireflies glowing at dusk and swinging screen doors.
Wanita Lake and fishing club hold a special place in our family history. My grandfather was a founding member and all of us have revisited this same Southern spot for years.
I climbed into this same row boat, as a young girl, just as my Aunt Beth did.
Magical memories are often the simplest. That’s why I love this photograph. ~shared by @rachellacour
