He was so handsome.

This Virginia boy was sent to a naval base in California, where he met the love of his life, my grandmother Eleanor.

Married young, but loving like old souls, their legacy inspired me to build Save Family Photos and this community of folks who love old family photos, and the stories they tell.

My grandmother unearthed this photo from her jewelry box. I’d never seen it until my grandfather died in September 2013. It was like discovering buried treasure.
