The date stamp at the top says January of 1967, but that was the date the film was developed. The photo was actually taken in September of 1966, as my mother and father were moving into their first house.

I love this glimpse of them at the very beginning of their journey together. They look so young and, while not entirely carefree, certainly not yet burdened with the challenges that two precocious daughters would someday present.

I also think it’s adorable that even though there are still unpacked boxes on the window seat behind Dad, Mom was able to have a vase with fresh flowers on the table. She’s always found ways to make simple moments special.

My sister and I were proud to help them celebrate their 50th anniversary earlier this month. Cheers to 50 years of loving teamwork, Mom and Dad! We look forward to celebrating many more. ~shared by @thekerrieo
