My Grandmother The Documentarian of our Family
My Mom’s birthday was yesterday. What better way to celebrate than to reminisce? She recently sent me this photo of herself as a young girl, on her 7th birthday. This picture was taken October 16, 1959. My Grandparents, Paul and Alberta, worked very hard to make a living, starting out in Chicago and then purchasing a farm in Bolivar, Missouri. They had vey little money. My Mom has said that her weekly trip to the town library was what she looked forward to most. Being fairly isolated on the farm, she would pretend that the characters in the books were her friends in real life.
This picture stood out to me because I know how little they had, yet my Mom is all dressed up next to the most beautiful homemade cake. My Grandma was great about documenting life events with photographs and I am very thankful for that. ~shared by @emilyutah
