You Don’t Have to Be Loud to Be Heard, a Lesson Learned from an Old Photograph
When I was going through old photos of my grandparents, I discovered this picture of my grandma. I don’t remember my grandma ever playing guitar, but I do remember her playing piano and singing, especially yodeling! My Grandma Rose was the strongest woman I’ve ever known. I wrote this about her for her eulogy:
“I learned so much from my grandma. I learned that you can be strong by being gentle. That you do not have to be loud to be heard. I learned that you can grow a lot of things with patience and love. I learned that it is okay to be selfless because love has a way of coming back to you. I learned that strength and bravery come in all different forms. I learned that even the sweetest, kindest people can have an incredibly powerful effect on those around you. Because of her, I am who I am this day.”
