My grandfather, William Jonathan Barnes, WWII veteran, pictured in California at base preparing for service in the Pacific Theater. “Dec. 7, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.” ~ Franklin D. Roosevelt

Reunited with an Old Family Photo Album

Posted by | · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · | Featured Family Stories | No Comments on Reunited with an Old Family Photo Album

We have been reunited with an old family photo album, which we thought was lost when my Grandma died 25 years ago. I had never seen any of my Mum and Dad’s wedding photos, but this album has them.

31 years later, and my Mum and Dad are still going strong! ~shared by mrsdbrown82

My Mother Sent me an Old Picture that I’ll Never Forget

Posted by | · · · · · · · · | Featured Family Stories | No Comments on My Mother Sent me an Old Picture that I’ll Never Forget

This is my paternal Grandfather. He died when I was pretty young, so I don’t remember much about him, but my Mom says I’m a lot like him in several small ways: I can be annoyingly frugal, like he was; we both are incurably skinny-limbed; and I stand the same way he did, with my hands in my pockets and my toes pointed outward.

My Mom sent me this picture awhile back. “You remind me so much of him,” she said.

I’m glad he can live on in me, even if it is just in my goofy posture. ~shared by @loganmahan

A Photo of my Beautiful Mother

My beautiful Mother. Taken around 1952-53. I always wished we could’ve been the same age together. I loved her clothes, music, and easiness of her day. ~shared by @gina2u

Love and Legacy Transcend Time

Posted by | · · · · · · · · · | Featured Family Stories | No Comments on Love and Legacy Transcend Time

This photo was found tucked away in a box of family photos while moving Momo (my grandmother) into her house. It captures the Christmas spirit of 1988 featuring Me, Pappy, and my brother. Pappy suffered from severe arthritis, but always was positive and ready to play a game with his grandchildren. Five years later, Pappy passed away.
My time with him was short but his impact on my life was large. This photo reminds me how our love transcends time and even life. ~shared by @jigga_g

How I Like to Remember My Mom and Dad

My Mom and my Dad, Christmas 1975. They look truly happy together and that makes me really happy.
They divorced when I was 5, so I don’t really remember them being together and in love, so this is how I like to remember them. ~shared by @nottaylorsmith #savefamilyphotos #wewerehere #oldfamilyphotos #familyphotos #familyphoto #analog #foundphotos #pictapgo_app #parents #parent #vintagephotos #family #families #filmisnotdead

Giving Thanks for Family Photos and the Stories They Tell

Posted by | · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · | Featured Family Stories | No Comments on Giving Thanks for Family Photos and the Stories They Tell

My mother, as beautiful as a young woman as she is today, created a home that’s overflowing with hospitality. This Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for her love and warmth…and amazing, home-cooked food!

When I’m home for the holidays, one of
my favorite things to do is discover old family photos.
Will you take time this Thanksgiving to get out the shoeboxes of family photos?
You may discover priceless treasures. ~ shared by @rachellacour
